For over 100 years, the American College of Surgeons (ACS) has been educating surgeons, establishing the standards and enhancing surgical quality.
Through a multi-year, multi-stakeholder quality campaign called THE POWER OF QUALITY, we ignited a conversation around quality that saves and improves lives. This campaign shifted the focus from the skill of the surgeon to the best practices of all stakeholders including surgical teams, hospital management and policies.
Through patient stories, we showed how specific quality programs for breast cancer, geriatric patients and emergency general surgeries provide patients with care focused on their goals, the resources and processes needed, and ultimately better outcomes at a lower cost to hospitals.
The result were emotional, human-scaled films and communication that animated “the power of quality” and the quality of the patient experience.
